ACLJ Taking Action To Free Nigerian Christian Teen Girl Abducted by Terrorist Army Boko Haram

ACLJ Staff Writers

October 15th, 2018

Fifteen-year-old Leah Sharibu is facing death at the hands of Nigeria’s brutal jihadist militia Boko Haram because she is a Christian.

Leah Sharibu was one of 110 Nigerian girls we told you had been kidnapped by the vile jihadist group Boko Haram – the militant West African radical Islamic army pledged to ISIS – after it stormed their village in February 2018.

Five of those innocent children are already reported to be dead, while 104 were eventually set free.  Only Leah Sharibu remains a prisoner of the bloodthirsty terrorist army.

Boko Haram is holding her captive because she refuses to renounce her Christian faith, even though it could mean her freedom, or even her life.

Now Boko Haram is threatening to kill Leah this month.

Christian and Muslim religious leaders have condemned the terrorists and demanded Sharibu’s release. But the Nigerian government has demonstrated it is either unable or unwilling to intercede and save young Leah’s life.

We recently told you about a 35-second recording reported to be Sharibu was released to the media. In it Leah asked for help to gain her release, but in an example of Christ’s love for His Church, made a point to ask for help for her family.

We should all be humbled by the unshakable faith of this precious young woman. It is our moral obligation to take action for Leah Sharibu, before it’s too late. If the government of Nigeria is seemingly unable or unwilling to help this child, we will.

The ACLJ appeared before the U.N. through our affiliate – the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) – to deliver a critical oral intervention at the U.N. Human Rights Council on behalf of Christians living under the threat of violence and death from Boko Haram and other terrorist groups like the Fulani Herdsman.

In our oral intervention, we told of the dangers Christians – including innocent Christian children – face in Nigeria on a daily basis.

We specifically highlighted the distressing plight of Leah Sharibu, and her heartbroken family who feel helpless and abandoned by their own government.

We need international pressure on the Nigerian government to take stronger action to stop the rampant atrocities being committed by these evil terrorists in their country.

And that violence has begun to spread to neighboring regions, endangering the lives of Christians beyond Nigeria.

The international community must take action. Leah Sharibu must be brought home safely. Christians should be protected and not have to live in constant fear of violence, abduction, and death.

Above all, the children must be protected.

We are directly engaging the Nigerian government and world leaders, demanding action to free Leah.

Stand with Leah Sharibu. Time is of the essence. Demand her release and urge protection for all of Nigeria’s Christians.
