Persecuted Pakistani Christians

We recently informed you about V, a seven-year-old girl, who was sexually abused by a Muslim neighbor in Pakistan. We have been working on a similar, and even more horrific, case in which two Christian women were gang-raped. Through our affiliate office in Pakistan, we just successfully secured justice for them.

In September 2023, six Muslim men broke into a Christian family’s house at night to commit robbery. During the robbery, they raped two women. One woman is a mother of four, and the other is her sister-in-law.

After the men left, the family informed the police. Within days, the police caught all six men.

The Christian family contacted the Organization for Legal Aid (OLA), our ACLJ affiliate in Pakistan, seeking legal representation during the defendants’ trial. In Pakistan, the victim has a right to be represented by an attorney who works alongside the prosecution. In essence, the victim’s attorney presents the prosecution’s case before the court.

These kinds of cases involve more than just legal representation; they require spiritual support and sometimes medical help. Our team was able to provide the necessary medical support to the two women in this time of trauma. Join us in defending persecuted Christians in Pakistan. During the investigation, the police were transferring the men from the police station to the prison, when all six tried to escape. During the ensuing fight, the police shot and killed five of the six defendants.

Nasir Shah – the sixth assailant – survived and faced trial. The trial continued throughout 2024, in which our team prepared the family for their testimony, including cross-examinations by the defendant’s counsel, as well as everything else that a trial entails. Several hearings in 2025 were postponed (a common practice in Pakistan), delaying the conclusion of the case.

Finally, on January 24, the trial court announced its decision. The court sentenced Nasir Shah to 25 years’ imprisonment. According to our affiliate in Pakistan, the OLA, “This decision represents a significant victory for justice and sends a strong message that such heinous crimes will not go unpunished if the victims are supported and the law is pursued without compromise.”

Our team also stated: “The OLA honors the courage of the survivors and reaffirms its commitment to stand with such victims, raising its voice against sexual violence, and ensuring accountability for the perpetrators – no matter how long the struggle takes.”
