Our team has delivered several critical presentations at the U.N. Human Rights Council on behalf of Christians facing genocide – but never like this.

We’ve just delivered an urgent wake-up call to the world to save dying Christians, and this time no one can say they didn’t hear it or understand.

“ISIS’s widespread systematic pattern of murder, barbarism, domination, and sexual abuses has forced thousands of Christians to flee the region, and is leading to the wholesale destruction of Christians as a group within the region.”

This is the message we’ve repeatedly delivered to the United Nations – only this time, we delivered it in Arabic so that the countries best positioned to take action would have to hear it.

The mass humanitarian crisis in the Middle East is far from over. Christians in Iraq still live under the shroud of very real, very deadly danger. The International community must step up and take action to protect them.

We’ve once again taken direct action at the U.N. to defend the lives of persecuted Christians in the Middle East. We presented a critical oral intervention at the U.N. through our European office – the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) – demanding the world acknowledge and intervene to end this genocide that has devastated so many innocent Christians.

This time our presentation was made in person by an Aramaic Christian – in Arabic – describing the plight of the indigenous Christian populations in the Middle East facing genocide. It is imperative that no country say they didn’t hear about or understand the level of devastation genocidal jihadists have caused across the Middle East.

“ISIS members have killed Christians by the thousands, have enslaved and raped thousands more because of their religion, and have destroyed their places of worship, their homes, and their livelihoods.”

We’ve recently told you how we presented a critical written submission to the U.N. to tell of the tragic stories and the human rights violations that  Christians are suffering in Iraq and Syria. In Iraq alone, “nearly 90% of Christians have fled.” Syria's Christians are 66% decimated. At this staggering rate, soon there won’t be any Christians left in the region.

Christians have been barbarically slaughtered, tortured, and denied critical aid. As one young woman who was brutally abducted and held captive by ISIS terrorists bluntly put it, "We cried to the U.N. . . . but nobody came to help us. Today, the village is surrounded by mass graves."

The world’s leaders must hear their stories. It is the only hope for the countless Christians who will continue to be displaced and will likely die without international assistance and protections. The price of inaction will be more mass bloodshed until Christians are forced into obscurity.

The victims of ISIS’s bloody campaign of terror need immediate help and protection if they’re ever going to have any hope of returning their homelands to resettle and rebuild their communities. As we told the world:

“In order to provide for the lasting resettlement of Christians to the region we must hold ISIS accountable for their actions. To that end, the ECLJ calls on this Council and its members to take the first step and formally recognize that the atrocities ISIS has been committing against Christians, constitutes genocide.”

The international community must provide necessary relief to the victims of genocide and hold jihadists that persecute Christians accountable for these atrocities.

We have a moral imperative to act in defense of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world. The time for action is NOW. We're expanding our Persecution Project to protect these Christians. We’re exposing the true face of evil that is genocide to the entire world, no matter what language we need to say it in.

The damage that has resulted in Syria from the ISIS genocide has created a massive humanitarian crisis. In order to provide for the lasting resettlement of Christians, this Council must take immediate action.
